Akwa Ibom LG poll: PDP wins 30 council seats, APC claims one

The Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State has won thirty chairmanship seats, leaving the All Progressives Congress with one seat.

This was contained in a list signed by the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission, AniediAbasi Ikoiwak, on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Governor Umo Eno has announced plans to swear in the elected chairmen on Monday, October 7, 2024.

This followed moves by AKISIEC to issue certificates of return to all the elected chairmen of the councils on Sunday.

Governor ENO, who made this known while speaking at the All Nations Christian Ministry in Eket, said it was important to immediately inaugurate the democratically-elected officials to position local government area in the state for rapid development.
