Rivers State Governor Swears In 23 Local Government Chairmen Following Election Victory

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has sworn in 23 local government chairmen who emerged victorious in yesterday's election.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Executive Chambers of the Rivers State Government House, with the oath administered by the Chief Registrar of the Rivers State High Court, David Ihua-Maduenyi.

Governor Fubara charged the newly sworn-in chairmen to see themselves as servants, not emperors, in their respective local government areas.

He urged them to unite their people and ensure development at the grassroots.

The governor also advised the chairmen to be patient and not respond to provocations from political opponents, emphasizing that violence should not be met with violence.

Notably, six political parties won seats in the local government elections, with the Action People's Party (APP) winning 22 local government areas and the Action Alliance winning one. Despite the opposition winning the majority of the seats, Governor Fubara reaffirmed his membership in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
