Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, Sector 3, have thwarted an attempted attack by the Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP, terrorists along the Magumeri–Maiduguri axis in Borno.

The troops also recovered caches of ammunition from the insurgents during a tactical operation in the area.

Chief Military Information Officer of the MNJTF in N’djamena, Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osaba disclosed this in a statement yesterday in Maiduguri.

He stated that the troops had executed a tactical ambush, neutralising the threat before the terrorists could harm innocent civilians.

Osaba explained that the troops had positioned themselves strategically along the terrorists’ route and engaged them as they emerged from a forested area on motorcycles.
