NDDC's "Operation Light Up the Region" Initiative Boosts Security and Development in Niger Delta
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has stated that the Commission’s "Operation Light Up the Region" initiative has significantly contributed to reducing insecurity and criminal activities in communities across the Niger Delta.
Speaking at a World Press Conference at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt, where he presented his administration’s scorecard, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Samuel Ogbuku, revealed that the commission has successfully electrified five local government areas that had been without power for the past fifteen years.
Ogbuku also highlighted other key achievements, including the provision of infrastructure, the launch of Project Hope and Tech Hop, as well as scholarship programs and medical outreach initiatives across the Niger Delta states.
He further disclosed that the NDDC's 2024 budget amounts to one trillion naira, which will be allocated to various projects aimed at enhancing development in the region.
The NDDC Managing Director outlined several other initiatives designed to transform the Commission’s legacy and improve the lives of the Niger Delta people, including planned entrepreneurship programs, stakeholder consultations, and enhanced staff welfare.
