African Union forces in Somalia have retaken one of the few towns that are under the control of the Al-Shabab Islamist militant group.

A report quoting residents indicates that Kenyan soldiers entered south-eastern Bardere town, which has been under al-Shabab control since 2008.

A report quoting residents indicates that Kenyan soldiers entered south-eastern Bardere town, which has been under al-Shabab control since 2008.

The Kenyan troops were armed with heavy weapons and supported by fighter jets.
