The faction of the Nigeria Labour Congress led by JOE AJERO at the national level says it has proposed new minimum wage of ninety thousand naira for Nigerian workers.

JOE AJERO made the disclosure at the opening ceremony of the National Executive Council meeting of the NLC faction in Port Harcourt.

AJERO said the five-year tenure of the existing national minimum wage has ended, adding that the new proposal is meant to address the prevailing unstable macroeconomic environment, devaluation and high rate of inflation.

He said the union will not accept any blackmail using the current economic crisis as a basis not to negotiate a new minimum wage for workers.

The factional leader of NLC in Rivers State, WILLIAMS ADAH was also at the meeting and promised to embrace reconciliation rather than confrontation.

Correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA reports that the NLC faction threatened to mobilize its members for a nationwide strike if state government continue to delay the payment of backlog of salaries of workers.
