The Petroleum Product Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, PETROAN, has reiterated the importance of the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt/Eleme refinery road.

This is as Nigerians anticipate the commencement of crude oil production at the Port Harcourt refinery in December 2023 as promised by the Federal Government.

The Rivers State Chairman of PETROAN, Francis Dimkpa in an interview with Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe stated that it will be unfair if the President or the Minister of Petroleum is transported on a helicopter to the refinery on the day of the commissioning.

The state PETROAN Chairman also raised concerns about the possible casualties on the Port Harcourt/Eleme refinery road, as a result of incessant accidents involving petrol trucks if the road remains dilapidated.

Several groups especially from the Ogoni extraction in Rivers State have on various occasions, protested the horrible state of the Port Harcourt/Eleme refinery road with no results to show for it.

It may interest you to know that the Federal Government had budgeted one point five billion dollars to revamp the Port Harcourt refinery.
