There are concerns there may be fuel scarcity during the Yuletide season, following a shortage of petrol supply in the country.

The Petroleum Product Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, PETROAN, believes if the gap in the supply chain is not bridged before the end of November, the demand for the period may outweigh the supply.

Rivers State Chairman of PETROAN, Francis Dimkpa, said in an interview with Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe.

The state PETROAN Chairman noted that the shortage of supply may increase illegal refining of crude oil, popularly known as kpofire, to sustain the demand.

Francis called on relevant stakeholders to ensure petrol is available during the Christmas period to stop any form of illegalities.
