Court remands UNIPORT student accused of killing girlfriend for money ritual
A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded a four hundred level student of the University of Port Harcourt, Damian Okoloigwe, who was accused of killing his girlfriend, Justina Otuene, a three hundred level student of the same university in the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre.
When the matter came up in court for plea, the prosecuting counsel, appealed to the court to remand the accused based on the gravity of the offense, a request which was not objected to by the defence counsel, OG Nweke.
The trial Chief Magistrate, Nnenda Obiageri-Onugbum, after listening to both counsels, ruled that the accused Damian Okoligwe be remanded in the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre and ordered that the case file be transferred to Department of Public Prosecution, DPP, for legal advice.
Today FM'S Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that Chief Magistrate Nnenda Obiageri-Onugbum thereafter, adjourned the case until 15th December, 2023, for the DPP’s report.
Damian Okoligwe was arrested by the police after he was caught trying to dispose the mutilated corpse of his girlfriend, JUSTINA OTUENE, whom he allegedly killed.
