CAC to publicly disclose company owners' profiles -Garba Abubakar
The Registrar General of the Cooperate Affairs Commission, Alhaji Garba Abubakar, has disclosed that about one hundred thousand companies have been currently shortlisted for delisting over non compliance and efficiency to the rules and regulations of the commission.
Abubakar who spoke during a one day Training Workshop on the Use of Beneficial Ownership Register held in Port Harcourt said the delisting of the one hundred thousand companies is coming after ten thousand, and fifty thousand respectively have been previously delisted for alleged non-compliance.
The Registrar General of the Cooperate Affairs Commission who was represented by the CAC Director Compliance, Justin Nidiya said Beneficial Ownership Register do not only help in registration of companies but also helps to enhance transparency and accountability framework.
Nidiya listed some of the benefits of the BOR including the fight against money laundry, corruption, and terrorism amongst others.
On her part, the Technical Officer of the Oasis Management Company Project, Priscilla Odion-Orukpe emphasized that the BOR provides robots information and awareness about the registration of a company.
Today FM's Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that stakeholders from different sectors were present at the one day training workshop on the Use of Beneficial Ownership Register by CAC in collaboration with Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre.
