Expert see repair of refineries as best alternative to sharing palliatives
Properly fixed and maintained refineries by technically skilled personnel can last up to one hundred years like those in the developed countries.
This is the position of the Head of Ndele Campus of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Professor Isaac Ogundu who spoke to Today FM on the side-line of palliative distribution in the country.
Professor Ogundu said Nigerians will rather prefer to see all their refineries come on stream than sharing of bags of rice and cash incentives.
The University don who is also a professor of Industrial Technical Education at the University, noted that it is only countries that are extremely poor that can be given palliatives to cushion the effects of harsh economic realities occasioned by the removal of petrol subsidy.
Professor Ogundu however advised the federal government to jettison the idea of wasting the nation’s resources through importation of Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol and work towards fixing the moribund refineries.
