IGP orders posting/redeployment of senior police officers

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali-Baba, has ordered the posting of Commissioner of Police, Okon Effiong to head the Department of Finance and Administration, Information Communication Technology, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

IGP Alkali-Baba also ordered the redeployment of CP Zachariah to Force Criminal Investigation Annex, Enugu, CP Nwonyi Polycarp-Emeka to Rivers State Police Command, while CP Gyogon Augustine-Grimah will resume as commissioner of police in Cross River State Command.

The IGP in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the redeployment is part of the effort of the IGP to achieve maximum impact of community-based and strategic policing in the society.

 

The statement tasked the Commissioners of Police to deploy all requisite assets in ensuring sanity, professional standards and discipline in all ramifications in their new places of assignment, and further charged them to effectively apply their wealth of experiences to improving existing structural arrangements towards achieving a citizen-focused and community-oriented policing system.

 

The statement also quoted the IGP calling for support and cooperation from members of the public to enable the newly posted senior officers function optimally on their mandate.
