INEC declares Eno winner of Akwa Ibom governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno winner of the March 18 governorship poll in the state.

Eno polled three hundred and fifty four thousand three hundred and forty eight to defeat his closest rivals, Akanimo Udofia of the All Progressives Congress who scored one hundred and twenty nine thousand, six hundred and two votes and Labour Party’s Uduakobong who got four thousand seven hundred and forty six votes.

Eno, who was declared the winner by INEC Returning Officer in the state, Professor Emmanuel Adigio,will succeed the incumbent governor, Udom Emmanuel, whose two terms of eight years will end on May 29, 2023.
