Guber polls: Governor Wike declares today as public hoiday
Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike has declared today as public holiday to enable all private and public sector workers travel to their communities to participate in Saturday's elections.
Governor Wike made the declaration during a state broadcast.
The govern accused the anti-terrorism unit, Rivers State command of providing security services to politicians in defiance of the order of the Inspector General of Police, urging the police boss to ensure that political leaders are restricted to their polling units on Saturday.
The governor who also appealed to security agencies to withdraw security personnel from VIPs during the election, declared some rivers politicians wanted on allegation of planning to disrupt the electoral process.
