A gynecologist and fertility doctor, Dolapo Shittu who made this known in an interview with Today FM’s Sandra Kenneth said lack of drugs, emergency equipment and access road has contributed to the high number of maternal mortality.

Dolapo, while reacting to a data that Nigeria is second in the list of countries with the highest number of maternal mortality decried continued patronage of local homes for child delivery by rural dwellers.

The Doctor also advised government at all levels to ensure the provision of well equipped hospitals and good payment of doctors in rural areas as part of the ways to address the issue of maternal mortality.
