FIDA calls on Police in Rivers to produce arrested church GO arrested for defilement of mino

The International Federation of Women Lawyers in Rivers State has called on the Rivers State Police Command to produce the General Overseer of a new generation church in Eliozu area, who it said was arrested and detained by officers of the Rumuodumaya Police Division for alleged defilement of a sixteen year old girl.

The state Publicity Secretary of FIDA, Sophia Afolayan who spoke to Today FM on the development, said they received a complaints from the victim on 17 June, 2022, on how she had been constantly sexually abused by the suspect.

Afolayan said every effort was made to ensure that the suspect was arrested on 18th of June only to be informed that he was released from cell that same night by operatives of the Rumuodumaya Police Division.

The spokesman of FIDA while nothing that the clergy man was yet to return to the station after being released by an officer called on the commissioner of police, Friday Eboka to prevail on the officer to ensure the return of the suspect to face his charges.

When contacted the commissioner of Police said the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the station will be summoned to give details of the situation.
