Angry women protesters block NDDC gate

Some women from Niger Delta region have shutdown the main entrance gate of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC in protest over delay in releasing the report of the forensic Audit and Constitution of Substantive Board.

Today FM Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that the aggrieved women who wore black attires, used their placards to sealed off the main entrance gate of the commission, not given access to staffs of the commission to drive into the premises as they chant songs despite attempt by some security personnel to stop the protest.

The leader of the protesters, Adienibo Odighonin who is the Coordinator of the Wailing Women of Niger Delta said they decided to stage the protest to express their grievance on how government officials have turned NDDC into cash cow instead of allowing the intervention agency to carry out their mandate of developing the region.

Odighonin while decrying the delay in making the report of foresic Audit public and constitution of substantive board of the NDDC to carry out full responsibility on the region, expressed concern that they women have not been carried along in skill of things in the commission which she said was their reasons for protesting.

The Leader of the protest threatened to continue with the protest and as well come up with second phase of the protest which she said will have the women naked if their demands are not meant by the authorities concern.

Today Fm reports that no official of the Commission came out to address the protesters espect a security personnel attached to the Commission who came out to address the women and requested that they drop their protest letter and give way.
