Rivers ministry for water resources assures residents of portable drinking water flow in 2023

Rivers state ministry for water resources have assured residents of obio Akpor and Port Harcourt city local government area of portable drinking water flow in 2023.

Commissioner of water resources Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja who gave this assurances shortly after conducting an inspection of ongoing work at the two local government areas said before 2023 these two local government will have water in their homes.

He however expressed displeasure at what he termed slow pace of work by the contractors handling the project and their failure to engage Rivers indigenes in the projects.

It may interest you to note that while rivers state government is doing it's best to ensure that these two local government areas that are in the urban part of the state, some local government areas in the rural part are experiencing high rate of cholera and other water borne diseases as a result of lack of portable water.

We brought you reports few months ago about a high rate of mortality that were contributed to the use of stream water in engenni kingdom, however some communities in Khana local government area also decried the lack of water supply in their areas.
