Governor Nyesom Wike says Nigerians would have a good reason to celebrate the 61st Independence Day if the electoral system is made stronger by introducing electronic transmission of results.

The governor said this while speaking during an interdenominational church service ahead of the Friday October 1 Independence Day Anniversary in Port Harcourt.

According to the Governor, it is worrisome that Nigeria is yet to adopt the electronic mode of transmission of election results, at a time when other countries are constantly working on how to improve transparency in elections.

The governor, who lamented   over the societal ills in the country, blaming poor leadership for Nigeria’s challenges, also took a swipe at the National Assembly for not checking the excesses of the Federal Government, especially in excessive borrowings.
