Ramaphosa pays tribute to late mayor of Johannesburg
South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa has paid tribute to the new mayor of Johannesburg, who died in a car crash at age Forty six.
Jolidee Matongo had been campaigning with Ramaphosa before the accident.
His vehicle was said to have collided with a van while trying to avoid a pedestrian who had run on to the road killing the pedestrian and the other vehicle's driver.
Matongo became mayor on August 10 following the death of his predecessor from Covid complications.
