It appears there is no hope for teachers of primary and secondary schools run by Rivers State government owned tertiary institutions with regards to the payment of their five years salaries.

This is despite two judgments in favour of the teachers at the National Industrial Court and the Court of Appeal.

Speaking at the 2021 Workers Day Celebration held at the Sharks stadium in Port Harcourt, the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Tammy Danagogo said it would be inappropriate for the state government to pay the salaries of those whose employment he said the government was not aware of.

Danagogo who represented Governor Nyesom Wike at the event said all workers under the payment of the state government must be employed through the state Civil Service Commission.
