Men of the vigilante group in Emohua community have rescued a woman identified as ESTHER NJOKU who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen from her farm along Emohua-Kalabari road. The Chairman of Emohua Vigilante group, WISDOM STEPHEN told our correspondent that the release of the woman was made possible by the combined efforts of traditional rulers of Emohua communities. STEPHEN said based on the directives of the traditional rulers, the youth groups and vigilante associations came together and moved against the kidnappers.One of the sons of the rescued woman, AKPENUCHI NJOKU also confirmed the release of his mother and commended authorities in Emohua for their assistance. In the meantime; one of the community leaders in Emohua, JACOB WAGBARA called on security agencies to increase surveillance around Emohua-Kalabari road, which he said had become a hideout for criminals. WAGBARA, who spoke in an interview with correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR, suggested that community vigilante groups should be given legal backing to make them more effective. Our correspondent reports that the release of ESTHER NJOKU was greeted with jubilation in Rumuche community in Emohua.
