OBUEBITE said the reports are part of propaganda being advanced by mischief-makers to confuse and make Bayelsa people residing in Rivers State not to travel home to vote in the election on Saturday.
The statement noted that there was no element of truth in the reports, adding that the reasons given being circulated as the basis for election not to hold in some of the local government areas have been resolved by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The PDP Campaign Organization in Bayelsa said INEC National Chairman, Professor MAHMUD YAKUBU has personally delivered fifty thousand Permanent Voter Cards to the state for prompt distribution to their owners. The PDP Campaign spokesman, JONATHAN OBUEBITE said the INEC Chairman was accompanied by six National Commissioners at a meeting with stakeholders where the delivery of the PVCs was announced. He said the meeting also had in attendance the Inspector General of Police, SOLOMON ARASE. The group therefore called on Bayelsans residing in Port Harcourt and elsewhere to return home and participate in the governorship election on Saturday.
