Ekpeye Kingdom seeks peace with oil Companies in the area after years of agitations

After years of agitation of the Ekpeye people over total neglect by oil and gas companies in the kingdom, Traditional rulers in Ekpeye have taken steps to ensure long lasting peace between oil host communities and multi-nationals.

 

Regent of Ekpeye kingdom, His majesty Eze Felix Otuwarikpo who said the steps taken by appointing contact persons between the communities and companies in Ekpeye kingdom, stated that over the years, communities in the area have suffered, due to lack of proper information and communication.

 

He added that the appointment of contact persons will bring development, adding that the move is geared towards ensuring that the communities receive what is due them.

 

Also speaking, Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi who appreciated the efforts of the regent, expressed optimism that the move will accelerate development in his community.

 

Our correspondent Sandra Kenneth reports that the Eze Igbu of Igbudiya kingdom Eze Joshua Eyiba was present at the inauguration of Prince Chibudom Nwuche as the contact man for all oil and gas industries in Ekpeye and Patricia Wudigha as the women representative.
