Police arrest dismissed Officer who killed Keke rider in Port Harcourt

Rivers State Police Command has arraigned dismissed Inspector Oba Christian who allegedly shot and killed a Tricycle Rider popularly known as Keke Napepe before a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt.

The Chief Magistrate A.O. Amadi-Nna, remanded the dismissed Inspector Christian who allegedly killed the tricycle rider Edmond Ikechukwu on the 10th of December at Rukpokwu axis of Obi-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

 

The dismissed Inspector Christian’s remand comes after Chief Magistrate Amadi-Nna, declined to entertain the matter citing lack of jurisdiction shortly after his arraignment in court today by the Police in the State. 

 

Chief Magistrate Amadi-Nna also advised that the case file be transferred to the Director of Public Prosecution and adjourned the matter to 25th of February 2021. 

 

Our correspondent reports that the charge sheet shows the dismissed police officer is arraigned for killing late Ikechukwu by firing him on the left side of his jaw with Ak 47 riffle to death and thereby committed an offense punishable under Section of the criminal code, laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.
