Ignatius Ajuru university students arrested for rape face prosecution

Two of the suspects arrested in connection with the gang rape of a female student of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education have been transferred to State Criminal Investigative Department for investigation and possible prosecution.

The spokesman of Rivers State Police Command Nnamdi Omoni who confirmed the development to our correspondent Uchendu Ejiowhor said the transfer of the matter was on the order of the Commissioner of Police Joseph Mukan. 

 

Omoni who is a Superintendent of Police said preliminary investigation revealed that Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has a particular hotel where students regularly  carry out such act just as he vow that the command will collaborate with the management of the institution to end such activities.

 

 

Earlier, the student raped victim narrated her ordeal in the hands of her rapists to our correspondent, stating that the incident started with her boyfriend who offered to help her charge her mobile phone inside his hotels apartment.
