Ignatius Ajuru university students arrested for gang raping

The Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele has confirmed the arrest of two out of three students of the University linked to alleged gang raping of a female student of the institution.

Ndimele in a text message to our correspondent said the two suspects have been handed over to the police for proper prosecution while efforts are underway to apprehend the third person linked to the crime.


Our correspondent gathered that three male students of the University lured a female student into one of the hostel rooms and gang raped her.


The VC also disclosed that the real occupants of the hostel room where the crime was committed have been sent out of the hostel.


The acting state Secretary of Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign Mary Prince who spoke on the incident called on the Police to ensure thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that all the suspects found culpable are made to face the law.
