Lagos state government to investigate cases of Police brutality in the state

The Lagos state Government has set up a commission of inquiry to investigate cases of brutality by operatives of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the state.

The state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced this while briefing newsmen after a National Economic Council meeting attended by Nigeria governors.


Sanwo-Olu said the seven man committee are expected to investigate verifiable cases of SARS abuse and determine action to be taken in terms of compensation for the victims and prosecution of culprits.


He disclosed that the move came after the National Economic Council advised that some of the five point demands of the youths be implemented locally by state governors.
