Former governor of Enugu State, Doctor CHIMAROKE NNAMANI has been ordered to forfeit choice assets running into billions of naira, which belong to four companies traced to his name.
The properties include transmission equipment of Rainbownet Limited; Hill Gate Investment Limited; Cuena Phones Limited; Cosmo FM, and 22 duplexes at Ebeano Estate.
Justice MOHAMMED YUNUSA of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos also ordered Doctor NNMANI to give up bank account balances totaling over sixty million naira.
The ruling was given in a case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, in which it slammed a one hundred and five-count charge of money laundering four point five billion naira against the former governor and other defendants.
The court heard that the former governor laundered funds from the Excess Crude meant for some local government councils in Enugu State between 1999 and 2007.
A report from Lagos said Rainbownet, Cosmos FM, Capital City Automobile and Renaissance University Teaching Hospital pleaded guilty after the presiding Judge decided to split the trial.
