There are indications that Swaziland is close to overcoming the burden of malaria. Swaziland’s national malaria control programme reports that only two hundred and thirty new cases of malaria were recorded in 2013. With the development; an international health expert RICHARD FEACHEM hinted that Swaziland looks poised to eliminate malaria by the end of next year or early 2017. If that happens, Swaziland will still have to wait three years to be certified malaria-free by the World Health Organization. However, FEACHEM warned about the danger of new cases being imported from neighboring countries such as Mozambique.
