The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, MUSA KIMO has held a meeting with the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria as part of efforts to tackle criminal activities in the state.
Our correspondent reports that leaders of the youth body across the twenty-three local government areas in Rivers State were represented at the meeting. Addressing the gathering at the Police Officers Mess on Forces Avenue within Old GRA in Port Harcourt, C.P. KIMO said there was need for the youth to assist the police with useful information to help track down criminals. The Police Commissioner said it is not possible for police personnel to be everywhere, which makes it necessary for communities to provide complimentary roles in crime fighting.
Responding to the charge, the State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, SUKUBO SARA-IGBE assured that the youth are ready to partner with the police to improve security. Correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that the Commissioner of Police also approved the National Youth Council of Nigeria as member of the Police Community Relations Committee in Rivers State.
