The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State says it has uncovered an alleged move by the state government to obtain another loan of ten billion naira. State Publicity Secretary of the APC, CHRIS FINEBONE, quoted an unnamed source confirming the move to the party. Following the development, the APC observed that since there is no constituted State Executive Council, it would be wrong for Governor NYESOM WIKE to obtain any loan in the name of the State Executive Council. The Rivers APC advised commercial banks to avoid entering into any agreement with the Rivers State Government that could make them accessory to criminal loan deals. The Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, FELIX OBUAH, has faulted the allegation by the Rivers APC.
OBUAH said the APC does not mean well for Rivers State because it was deliberately refusing to acknowledge the impressive performance of Governor NYESOM WIKE. In a statement released by his Media Adviser, OBUAH accused the APC of evolving politics of bitterness and ‘pull-him’ Down syndrome, which he said undermines progress and development. The PDP Chairman said it was not true that Governor WIKE had applied for any loan other than the ones legally and legitimately approved by the State House of Assembly.
