The trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, NNAMDI KANU, was meant to continue yesterday before a Wuse Magistrate Court in Abuja, but the appearance of two lawyers with two conflicting briefs to represent the accused person stalled the proceedings.
The trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, NNAMDI KANU, was meant to continue yesterday before a Wuse Magistrate Court in Abuja, but the appearance of two lawyers with two conflicting briefs to represent the accused person stalled the proceedings.One of the lawyers, VINCENT OBETE, told the court that he was briefed by NNAMDI KANU’s family to represent him, while the second lawyer, GABRIEL EGBULE said he was personally briefed by the accused when he was arraigned before the court on October 19.
You will recall that NNAMDI KANU was granted bail on 19th of October when he was arraigned by the Department of State Services. However; KANU has not been released and the DSS also failed to take the accused person to court yesterday. Following the developments; Magistrate SHUAIBU USMAN ordered the DSS to produce NNAMDI KANU in court on the next adjourned date on 23rd of November to enable him sort out his legal team. The charges against NNAMDI KANU include alleged criminal conspiracy, managing and belonging to an unlawful society and criminal intimidation contrary to sections provisions on the Penal Code.
