Stakeholders from the Orashi area of Rivers State want government to take proactive steps towards addressing the likely consequences of flooding in their communities. Our correspondent reports that the people of Orashi, spreading across several local government areas in Rivers State, became disturbed following the recent warning of possible flooding issued by the National Emergency Management Agency.

Former Commissioner for Agriculture in Rivers State, EMMA CHINDA, has gone to court seek an order against the investigation of activities of the ministry under his leadership. CHINDA approached the Rivers State High Court for an order of perpetual injunction restraining the Commission of Inquiry and the Commissioner of Police from inviting, arresting or requiring him to appear before the panel.

Fourteen suspected recruiters for the Islamic State militant group have been arrested in a joint raid in Spain and Morocco. The BBC reports that one arrest was made close to Madrid, while the others were intercepted in various Moroccan cities.

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, IBE KACHUKWU has advocated a review of the Petroleum Industry Bill. IBE KACHUKWU said the review was necessary to address the effects of dwindling oil prices in the international market, with a barrel of crude oil selling for forty dollars.
