The Edo State Government has received approval to borrow seventy-five million dollars from the World Bank for its Development Policy Operation.
The Senate gave the approval based on the adoption of a report submitted by an ad hoc committee, which had been reviewed and sent by President MUHAMMADU BUHARI seeking approval for Edo State to obtain the loan.
The National Orientation Agency has advised residents of Rivers State to be cautious about their consumption of poultry product following the outbreak of bird flu in the state. Rivers State Director of the agency, OLIVER WOLUGBOM who made the call in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt, said the consumption of poultry should be minimized until the outbreak is contained.
The Senate is set to probe the Power Sector Reforms under the administrations of former Presidents OLUSEGUN OBASANJO and GOODLUCK JONATHAN. The resolution was reached by the upper legislative chamber which set up a thirteen-member ad-hoc committee to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the management of funds spent for the power sector since 1999.
