The Senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, SHEHU SANI has backed the Federal Government’s move to open talks with Boko Haram insurgents. Senator SANI urged President MUHAMMADU BUHARI to used credible channels and steps to reach a possible agreement with the militants. The senator noted that the government must be seen to be willing to make concessions for the sake of peace in the north-east region of Nigeria.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral IBOK-ETTE IBAS has promised to make the welfare of his officers top priority. The naval chief said this at the presidential commissioning of the 2015 Special Duty Commission Cadets at the Nigerian Naval College held at Onne in Rivers State.

The Peoples Democratic Party has called on the   President of the Court of Appeal, Justice ZAINAB BULKACHUWA, to remove Justice VICTOR OKORIE, from one of the panels of the Rivers State National and House of Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja. You will recall that Justice OKORIE was earlier reassigned from his former position as Chairman of the Rivers State National Assembly Election Tribunal to his current position as an ordinary member of an election panel following a petition by the PDP.

The Peoples’ Democratic Party in Bayelsa State has played down the defection of over one thousand former members to the All Progressives Congress over the weekend. A PDP chieftain who represents Sagbama/Ekeremo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, FREDERICK AGBEDI said most of defectors took the decision because they lost in the party primaries. The House of Representatives member was speaking in a television program monitored in Port Harcourt.
