The Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Rivers State, Reverend MINAIBIM HARRY has approach the Court of to seek justice over the dismissal of his petition challenging the victory of Governor NYESOM WIKE. You will recall that the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja dismissed the petition filed by the SDP on the ground that it lacked merit.
The Labor Party in Rivers state has taken credit for the change in the leadership of the panel of the Rivers state election tribunal sitting in Abuja. Speaking in an interview with correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA, the state Chairman of the Labor Party, FELIX FAVOUR claims that Justice ABDULKADIR PINDIGA was change because of the ruling he delivered against the petition of his party.
The Rivers State House of Assembly has promised to ensure strictly compliance with the law protecting the environment of the state. The assurance was given by a member of the House, ISRAEL NGBUELU, who is the Chairman of the House Committee investigating an oil spill at Emago-Kugbo community in Abua-Odual Local Government Area.
The National Emergency Management Agency has called for the immediate relocation of residents of communities along rivers and waterways, as well as low-lying areas that are prone to flooding. NEMA gave the advice in view of the increasing intensity of the rainy season with its attendance consequences of flooding, to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.
The Rivers State Governorship has ruled on the three contentions motions that were earlier reserved, before the Court of Appeal intervened and directed that ruling should be given.
