Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have struck a significant blow against illicit drug trafficking, seizing narcotics with an estimated street value of ₦3.428 billion in coordinated operations across Lagos and Rivers states.
According to a statement released by NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, the seized drugs include a staggering 3.5 million pills of opioids and 163,000 bottles of codeine syrups.
A major interception of the codeine syrups was carried out on April 29th in a joint operation between NDLEA and customs officers. The substantial haul was discovered during a meticulous examination of a watch-listed container at the Port Harcourt ports complex in Onne, Rivers state.
Babafemi highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling the drug menace, commending the joint efforts with customs officials that led to the successful seizure in Rivers state.
