National Assembly resumes plenary after Easter Break.

But the death of Senator ISIAKA ADELEKE of Osun West is likely to setback deliberations in the Senate by one day.

This is because the tradition of the Senate provide for the suspension of plenary for a day in honour of a deceased member.

Meanwhile; the 2017 Appropriation Bill and the modified Petroleum Industry Bill are some of the big items on the agenda of the Senate on resumption.

You would recall that the Senate has been working on the budget since it was presented by President MUHAMMDU BUHARI in December last year.

In considering the budget, the National Assembly organized the first ever public hearing to harness the opinions of citizens for inputs in the budgetary process.

Before going on recess, the Senate President BUKOLA SARAKI tasked all committees to wrap up activities on the budget.

Senator WARAKI warned that the Senate may have to present the original proposal as presented by the executive should any committee fail to submit its report to the appropriation committee before resumption.

Also, the Petroleum Industry Bill, which is currently in an advanced stage at the Senate, would be given priority after passage of the budget.
