The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has defended the nationwide ban on sachet and small-pack alcoholic drinks, describing the policy as the most effective strategy to curb rising cases of underage drinking in Nigeria.
NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, stated this in Abuja during a press briefing marking the commencement of enforcement of the ban.
She explained that the enforcement exercise would be jointly carried out by NAFDAC, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
