The mothers, whose children are and were in the incubator, said when there is power outage, the children are transferred to the out-born SCBU, where there is a standby generator used for the children at night.
The women, who spoke to Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe however did not make mention of patients being referred to other hospitals.
One of them claimed a child in an incubator had died due to power failure in the hospital.
It would interest you to know that few days ago, there was a video making rounds on social media, that the SCBU unit in UPTH was out of power, and the hospital had to refer the mothers of the children in the incubator to other hospitals.
The SCBU unit in UPTH is a sensitive unit, where premature babies are given special care.
