Medical experts have urged Nigerians to pay greater attention to skin health, describing it as an essential component of overall well-being.
The Chief Medical Director of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, Professor Chizindu Alikor, made the call during activities marking World Skin Day in Port Harcourt.
He stressed that the skin deserves the same level of care as other organs and advised Nigerians to avoid harmful skincare practices capable of causing preventable health complications.
Also speaking, President of the Nigerian Association of Dermatologists, Professor Dasetima Altraide, expressed concern over the increasing number of unqualified individuals posing as dermatologists.
This year’s World Skin Day is themed, “Better Knowledge, Better Skin Health.”
