Legal Experts Applaud Court Ruling on NBA Conference Relocation

A former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Port Harcourt branch, Prince Nyekwere, has praised the High Court’s decision to strike out a suit challenging the relocation of the 2025 NBA Annual Conference to Enugu State.

Nyekwere described the suit filed by Chris Akarolo as baseless and unnecessary, accusing the claimant of being a “meddlesome interloper” in the affairs of the association. He insisted that the NBA has the autonomy to decide where its events should be held without external interference.

Similarly, human rights lawyer Angus Chukwuka said it was senseless for anyone to dictate to an independent body where or how it should organize its activities. He added that the NBA’s decision to move its conference from Port Harcourt to Enugu sends a strong message to President Bola Tinubu over what he called the truncation of democracy in Rivers State.
