A nongovernmental organization known as Legal Defence and Assistance Project, LEDAP, is challenging the arrest of the judges by the Department of State Services.

LEDAP wants the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to declare as unlawful the raid and arrest of judges by the DSS.

It also wants the court to grant an injunction stopping the Attorney General of the Federation from arraigning the judges in court on allegations of corruption.

It is the argument of LEDAP that the suspected corrupt judges cannot be charged and arraigned in court without the authorization of the National Judicial Council.

Furthermore; LEDAP wants the court to declare that the statutory function of the DSS is the prevention and detection of crime against the internal security of Nigeria.

LEDAP contends that the DSS does not have the power to arrest judges under National Security Agencies Act.

A report on the website of Channels Television disclosed that the action initiated by the group was confirmed in a statement released by its National Coordinator, CHINO OBIAGWU, but no date has been fixed for hearing of the matter.
