Lagos State Becomes Fourth To Report Monkey Pox Outbreak

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Doctor JIDE IDRIS disclosed at a news conference yesterday that two suspected cases were currently being investigated in the state.
Doctor IDRIS said although no confirmed case has been recorded, there was need to alert members of the public and sensitize the people on measures for prevention and control of the disease.
The Health Commissioner said the two suspected cases were recorded in a private hospital, but he stopped short of naming the actual hospital.
He confirmed that the two suspects have been quarantined in their various houses pending the result of the investigation.
In the meantime; the Lagos State government has placed Disease Surveillance Officers in the fifty-seven local government areas and local council development authorities, as well as health workers in both public and private health facilities on standby to ensure adequate response.
