Khana/Gokana MP Dumnamene Dekor Criticizes Minister Umahi Over East-West Road Reconstruction, Urges Presidential Intervention

The member representing Khana/Gokana Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dumnamene Dekor, has voiced strong criticism over recent developments concerning the reconstruction of the Eleme axis of the East-West Road. Dekor expressed disapproval of the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for allegedly abandoning the original master plan for the project. He specifically condemned Umahi’s attempt to halt the construction of two planned flyovers along the road, describing the move as unjustified and detrimental to the project’s integrity.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, Dekor called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and prevent Umahi from executing what he described as a shoddy job on the East-West Road. He accused the Minister of deceiving the President into commissioning a section of the road that remains incomplete, raising concerns over the transparency and quality of the ongoing work.

Meanwhile, Dekor also lauded President Tinubu for awarding a posthumous national honor to late Ogoni activist Ken Saro-Wiwa and former MOSOP President Ledum Mitee. While expressing appreciation for the recognition, he urged the President to extend similar honors to the entire Ogoni community, emphasizing the need to acknowledge their contributions and sacrifices in national development.
