Sixty-five-year-old Judge DAVID MARAGA was chosen from among eleven candidates who showed interest in the job.
But Judge MARAGA would not be working on Saturday because he is a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church that observes Sabbath worship.
The appointment of the new Chief Justice comes ahead of presidential election next year.
