The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that there will be no by-election for Khana 2 State Constituency in Rivers State, citing the ongoing State of Emergency in the state as the reason.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made the disclosure while outlining the commission’s plans for upcoming elections. He stated that a series of by-elections are scheduled to take place on August 16, 2025, to fill vacant seats in both the National and State Assemblies across 12 states.
It is noteworthy that the seat for Khana 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly became vacant following the death of the incumbent member, Dinebari Loolo, last year.
