INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, in a statement on Thursday, assured that the Commission has commenced an immediate investigation and anyone found culpable in this diabolical scheme clearly intended to disenfranchise Nigerians will be sanctioned under the law.
Okoye also said the commission had already, started reviewing the procedure for collecting PVCs to make it less cumbersome and more transparent.
The INEC commissioner appealed to those who found the allegedly buried PVCs to deliver them to the commission’s nearest State or Local Government office.
He vowed that the commission would counter attempts to sabotage the process of getting PVCs to registered voters.
