INEC declares Gov Buni winner of Yobe governorship election

Announcing the result at the INEC headquarters in Damaturu, the State Returning Officer, Professor Umar Pate said BUNI of the All Progressives Congress scored three hundred and seventeen thousand one hundred and thirteen votes to defeat his closest rival, Sheriff Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored one hundred and twenty four thousand two hundred and fifty nine.

In the same vein; Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has been reelected for another four-year term.

The All Progressives Congress candidate polled two hundred and seventy three thousand four hundred and twenty four to defeat his closest opponents, Abdullah Yahman of the Peoples Democratic Party who scored one hundred and fifty five thousand four hundred and ninety votes.

Of the twenty eight states in which elections were conducted, eleven serving governors including Abdulrazaq sought reelection while seventeen outgoing governors are in the final weeks of their constitutional two-term limits of eight years, having been sworn in on May 29, 2015.
